Do Freeze:
- Marinades
- Cooked rice (long grain freezes better than minute rice)
- Bread dough
- Cookie dough
- Rolls
- Muffins
- Burritos
- Waffles
- Shredded cheese
- Broth-based soups
- Pasta Sauces
- Cooked ground turkey and beef
- Fish
- Grapes
- Shredded potatoes
Don’t Freeze:
- Celery
- Lettuce
- Cream Cheese
- Blocks of Cheese
- Anything with gelatin
- Mayonnaise
- Fully cooked noodles (only cook noodles partially. As the noodles thaw, the moisture will continue to soften the noodles, and after reheating the noodles will be just about right.)
- Anything fried – it goes soggy after being frozen.

Clam chowder did not freeze well. I don’t know if it because it is a cream based soup or what it was, but it thawed in clumps and was watery.
Thanks for your comment, Kammie. Cream based soups generally don’t freeze as well as broth soups. If you want to make it work, you usually have to add some milk and play around with the consistency – and it’s still not as good as when it’s fresh. It can work in a pinch, but thanks for the reminder to stick to broth-based soups.
