Even though it’s summer…
Even though you might not be ready to think about it yet…
There are a few strategic things you can start doing to give yourself a low-stress back-to-school season and have a productive fall.
Spending just a few minutes now can save hours of time this fall, starting with these tips to help you get your kids back to school:
School shopping – if you are willing to place some orders early, you’ll have your pick of styles and sizes. Plus, you’ll avoid the crowded malls and shipping delays later on. It’s a win-win!
Set appointments – Whether it’s sports physicals, haircuts, or orthodontist visits, why not schedule them now? You’ll thank yourself when you’re not scrambling to fit them in between school and activities later.
Mastermind your fall schedule now – This is the perfect time to plan out those fall schedules. I know it feels like a giant game of Tetris, trying to fit in sports, music lessons, and everything else. But if you start sketching it out now, you’ll have more options for class times and maybe even set up some carpools. It’s all so much easier when you’re ahead of the game!
But kids aren’t the only ones who can benefit from some early planning…
I’ve noticed something in my 15 years of coaching that there’s a golden window from Labor Day to mid-November where moms, women, and parents have some natural momentum to get things done. Maybe you want to organize the garage, start a new hobby, or focus on your health. Whatever it is, start planning for it now. Book that personal trainer, order supplies for your home project, or sign up for that class you’ve been eyeing.
So ask yourself: what things do you need or want to accomplish this fall? And how can you start planning for it now?
Even though thinking about these things during the middle of the summer might seem over the top, planting a few strategic seeds will help you avoid the stress and chaos that comes with last-minute scrambling. A little planning now means more time for fun later.

I can’t wait to hear how this works out for you. As crazy as it sounds, next year at this time, I bet you’ll be the one telling all your friends to order those school clothes early!
