Fresh peach dessert

I don’t know what I love more about this dessert…the buttery crust with a nutty flavor, the sweet cream cheese filling, the fresh peaches, or the whipped cream on top. Just writing that made my mouth start watering! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I wait all year for peach season so I can make “Fresh Peach Dessert.” And the amazing thing is that it’s always even better than I remember it!

Fresh Peach Dessert

 1 1/2 c. soft butter, separated

½ c. brown sugar

2 c. flour

1/2 c. chopped peanuts

8 oz. cream cheese

1 c. sugar

8-10 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced

1 pint (2 cups) whipping cream

1/2 c. powdered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

Cut 1 c. butter, brown sugar and flour into a crumble.  Drop into a 9×13 pan but do not press.  Sprinkle with chopped nuts.  Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.  Cool.  Break into crumbs sprinkle half into pan.  Do not press. Reserve remaining crumbs.

Then mix cream cheese, sugar and 1/2 c. butter in a separate bowl. Layer over crumbs.  Top with peaches. Whip whipped cream with ½ c. powdered sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla.  Layer whipped cream over peaches. Sprinkle rest of crumbs on top and chill.

 

You might notice that for the first time ever, I have posted something on The Happy Gal that is not “healthy” or “low fat.” There is butter and real whipped cream in this recipe, and it was actually not a mistake. It belongs on this website because The Happy Gal is a resource for women who want to live happy, peaceful, balanced lives. And I don’t know about you, but for me, butter and whipped cream is definitely a part of that.

    • Ooh, great question Monica. I like to prepare this fresh and serve it the same day after letting it chill in the refrigerator for an hour or two. It is a little mushy the next day, unfortunately.

  2. This dessert is so good. Requests for recipe every place I take it. I did use one of the peaches to make a glaze which I spread over the peaches to help curtail the juices. I kept some for five days to see how it would hold up. Every thing held up well, the peaches did not turn dark, the crust was not as crunchy but it still tasted amazing.
